Course Overview
The Paediatric Nursing Course is designed to facilitate the novice Registered Nurse’s (RN) and Enrolled Nurse (EN) ability to competently care for patients in the Paediatric setting. The course aims to foster greater flexibility and student-centeredness to promote the clinical development of our nursing manpower in caring for increasingly complex Paediatric patients. With support and active participation from Paediatric specialists and trained staff in Paediatric nursing, this course will align nursing knowledge to medical practice and skills to achieve successful Paediatric nursing practice.
Course Objectives
· Recognise common health-related issues in paediatric population.
· Provide appropriate nursing care to paediatric patients’ common health-related issues.
· Recognise changes in conditions that need further assessment and care.
· Apply knowledge of paediatric care management and psychosocial considerations independently in caring for paediatric patients and their family.
· Demonstrate critical thinking and clinical decision-making when caring for paediatric patients.
· Demonstrate reflective practice and professional development of self and others.
